The Overmountain Rally is back in 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting events on the ARA calendar. Set in the heart of Tennessee’s high country, this year’s edition promises a tighter, more exciting package for competitors and spectators alike.
When & Where
September 18–19, 2026 | Newport, Tennessee
The Stages
Expect 100+ competitive miles of classic Appalachian rally terrain — smooth-ish gravel, clay, and hard-packed dirt wound through jaw-dropping elevation changes and scenery that will take your breath away (the road will try to do the same). Twisty doesn’t begin to cover it. Add in roughly 160 miles of transit and you’ve got a full, action-packed weekend on some of the most challenging roads in the eastern US.
What’s New in 2026
The organizers have made some smart changes this year. Service will be centralized at the Newport Speedway NASCAR track, cutting transit times and keeping the action flowing. The beloved Newport Super Special Stage is back, and there’s a renewed focus on the regional competitor experience — great news for the grassroots contingent.
Racing kicks off Friday evening and runs through Sunday, so there’s a full weekend of action to take in.
For Spectators
If you’re coming out to watch, grab a copy of the Spectator Guide and snag VIP tickets while they last. And when the stages go quiet Sunday, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is just a 30-minute drive away. Newport calls itself the Adventure Side of the Smokies — after a weekend of rally racing, you’ll understand why.
